Powerglide (cast iron case)

Used 1950-62 in Chevrolets.  In 1953 for a three month period, they were used in Oldsmobiles after the Livonia, MI Hydramatic plant burnt to the ground.

This transmission had no bottom pan.

This was an hydraulically controlled transmission.

Band adjustment:
Low = 3 turns (with cushion spring)
Low = 4 turns (without cushion spring)
Reverse = ¼" servo travel

To determine transmission year, look at case date marking (Example: J246> J=10th month November; 24=24th day of month; 6 is year 1956)
