GM 4L60E transmission

Used 1993-up.

There are MANY versions and are used in various GM vehicles. Some newer versions are designated 4L65E and have five pinion planetary sets.

This transmission replaced the 700R4 and shares SOME parts with it. It is distinguishable from the 700R4 in that it has no TV cable and the electrical plug enters from the passenger's side of the case. From 1997-up the bell housing unbolts from the case. Some 1996 models in vans also had bolt on bell housings and some applications in 1997 still had the earlier one piece case.

This is a computer controlled overdrive transmission.

Top cooler line is the cooler return line.
